Google has recently introduced a new initiative called the “Google for Startups AI Academy: American Infrastructure,” which aims to make AI technology accessible to the public sector. This program offers hands-on training and support from AI experts to companies working on solutions in various fields such as agriculture, energy, education, public safety, healthcare, telecommunications, transportation, urban development, and more.
During the 12-week program, participating startups will receive guidance from Google’s People + AI Research (PAIR) team through a specially designed AI curriculum. Additionally, they will have the opportunity to attend advanced sales and go-to-market workshops. Moreover, startups will benefit from industry connections and have access to Google’s AI tools to aid them in their development process.
The program will welcome startups that successfully complete it into the alumni network, which currently consists of various infrastructure-oriented companies such as JustAir, Cambio, and Sensagrate. JustAir utilizes AI to monitor air pollution, Cambio is dedicated to decarbonizing commercial real estate, and Sensagrate is committed to reducing traffic fatalities.
Google has announced that it will be choosing startups that leverage AI to enhance productivity and address challenges in a wide array of sectors, including disaster prevention, environmental sustainability, smart manufacturing, logistics, public safety, water management, workforce development, and economic opportunities.
The deadline for submitting applications is June 17.
While much attention is given to AI companies that develop models, tools, and interfaces for AI applications, Google emphasizes the importance of focusing on practical uses of AI technology that can have a positive impact on local, state, and national communities. Google encourages startups to apply, even if they are not directly involved in the aforementioned industries, as long as they are contributing to the creation of more efficient and fair public services.
